Get over your ego!

An ego can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Egos are what distinguish us from others. Most of us think that, the bigger the ego, the bigger the person. What we don't realize is that our egos, in many cases, hold us back from true success. Some of us put our egos so high up on a pedestal that we miss out on great opportunities. For example, Mark, who is an high executive in his company, is presented with an opportunity to better his income, but he has to do something that he feels he is to prestige to do. He has to sell a product that is marketed exclusively to women. Mark declines the offer. Another executive welcomes the offer, and in doing so is able to give up his seat in the office and live a free life. If only Mark had of dropped the ego, he would have been able to do the same. A close friend of mine, always told me "You can either feed your wallet, or your ego, but you cant feed both". Getting over your ego is a big step in success, because in order to get something you've never had, you have to do something you've never done.

Get over your fear

Fear is a big situation in the world of success. Lets talk about the fear of success as our first topic. Now, lots of people have this fear. Why? I do not know, but I can surely tell you that it is not a fear that anyone should have. Most people fear success and don't even realize it. Now when i say, fear success, I don't mean they fear being successful, I mean that they fear the process they have to go through to become successful. They see the road and it looks to long to travel. Or maybe they feel inside of themselves that they will not reach it. This is a fear that shuts many down right from the start. This fear is what allows many to shut out an opportunity before even giving it a chance to show.

The second fear that many face if the fear of failure. Although the fear of success and the fear of failure may seem similar, they are not. The fear of failure happens when a person starts to reach success. They start to reach there goal but they let their mind take control in a negative way. They start to wonder, "well what if this happens or that happens"? So they come to the conclusion that they should just stay where they are in life. This is the fear of failure.

GETTING OVER THE FEARS

It is quite easy to get over these fears. The first objective you must complete is to remind yourself constantly that you are in control of your successful future. You have to realize that even if you do fail at one task, it is only an opportunity to give it another try while figuring out what you did wrong the first time.

Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

Now this is tough for many, but it is a very good habit to practice. For any company, networking is a key part of the organization. This is why most companies put on different networking events. That being said, your comfort zone has a lot to do with your success as a business owner and even as an employee. Getting out of your comfort zone allows you to interact with more people and grow more opportunities. One of my mentors used to always tell me " If you don't feel butterflies in your stomach daily, then you aren't bettering your business". What this means is that you have to do different things each day that will help you reach your goals. This could mean picking up a book to read if you have never done so. It could mean going out and shaking a strangers hand just to talk about what you do. After all, you never know who you may meet. This simple habit to practice can determine if you reach success. I can guarantee you that successful business owners and employees, do not settle for the same thing every day. They make an effort to do something they have not done before to help them reach there goals. Remember " To get something you have never had, you have to do something you have never done".

Conclusion

I hope this HUB has been informative. Look for many more in the future and feel free to add what you like!!!!

Your ego will get in the way all the goals you have set. The term "a healthy ego" is a mystery. The more we learn about the ego the more we know it is hard for it to be healthy. Good Hub.

Thanks Dee, this is one thing that I had to realize as well. My ego was to big for me to even begin to progress in what I was doing. I quickly learned that I had to drop it just to see progress.

Great hub, very thought provoking.I know the feeling of daring not to try something outside of my comfort zone because I fear failing. However, if you don't try you will never succeed and you need to be brave to fulfil those ambitions!
